Gavin McInnes to sue SPLC

Gavin McInnes has vowed to sue the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) into oblivion for labeling the group he founded, the “Proud Boys” as a hate group.

McInnes says the false label has directly affected his life negatively:

In the lawsuit, McInnes blames the SPLC’s “hate group” designation for the Proud Boys for everything from his being kicked off of PayPal, Facebook, and Twitter, to criticism from his own neighbors in a tony [sic] New York suburb. – The Daily Beast

Louderwithcrowder.com reports: When McInnes founded the Proud Boys in 2016 as a place for “Western Chauvenism” (that’s tongue in cheek), it was a “safe space,” if you will, for pro-Trump men in a time when it seemed only permissible to be a a social justice warrior or Antifa drone. Despite that, media and the SPLC quickly branded the Proud Boys as alt-right and “hateful.”

It seemed, and this is my opinion now, that media was determined to tie every action of a Proud Boy supporter, even if that action was questionable, to Gavin McInnes himself. The same media which hasn’t tied the actions of Antifa mama’s boys to Bernie Sanders, Maxine Waters, or any number of vocal socialists or vocal Democrats calling for violent discord.

“Mr. McInnes is essentially an untouchable, unable to retain or be considered for gainful employment in his line of work,” the lawsuit claims.

McInnes is suing the SPLC for defamation and tortious interference with economic advantage. McInnes also wants a court order stopping the SPLC and its employees from referring to him as someone connected to a hate group.

Seems fair. It should be noted Gavin McInnes left the Proud Boys in November of 2018 when it did seem like the Proud Boys were getting into some questionable situations.

This isn’t the first time the SPLC has been sued for mislabeling a group as “hateful.” Read Southern Policy Law Center, which Fact-Checks for Facebook, Just Got Spanked. Let’s just say the SPLC getting sued isn’t giving me a case of the sadz.

Seattle TV Station Caught Doctoring Trump’s Face During National Address

A Seattle Q13 Fox employee has been placed on leave after a disturbing “deepfake” video of President Trump aired during his national address on border security this week, according to mynorthwest.com. 

In addition to dialing up the orange to oompa-loompa proportions, somehow the TV station was able to manipulate Trump on the fly to show him creepily sticking his tongue out at viewers. 

That comparison reveals the Q13 video creating a loop of the President licking his lips — making it seem bizarre and unbalanced — it also seems that someone distorted the President’s face and my have added an orange tone to his skin –mynorthwest.com

In a statement to MyNorthWest, Q13’s news director said “We are investigating this to determine what happened,” adding “This does not meet our editorial standards and we regret if it is seen as portraying the President in a negative light. The editor responsible for editing the footage is being placed on leave while we investigate further.“

The most disturbing part of the prank is that Trump’s speech was manipulated in real time – a technological feat known as “Deep Fakes” – a convincing computer generated manipulation which can produce an almost believable impersonation of an individual.

Most recently Nvidia showcased an AI algorithm that can create realistic looking photos of people who don’t exist. 

And in China, state-run Xinhua news agency has rolled out an AI anchor which is disturbingly lifelike. 

“AI anchors have officially become members of the Xinhua News Agency reporting team,” said the agency, adding “They will work with other anchors to bring you authoritative, timely and accurate news information in both Chinese and English.”

The new AI anchors, launched by Xinhua and Beijing-based search engine operator Sogou during the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, can deliver the news with “the same effect” as human anchors because the machine learning programme is able to synthesise realistic-looking speech, lip movements and facial expressions, according to a Xinhua news report on Wednesday. –SCMP

We wonder if the MSM will give their Seattle comrades a pass for doctoring the Trump video, unlike the treatment received by Infowars editor Paul Joseph Watson, who was falsely accused of doctoring footage of CNN‘s Jim Acosta pushing a White House intern.

Face Transplant Operation is ‘Most Extensive in History’

A 37-year-old Virginia man severely disfigured by a 1997 gun accident has received the most extensive full-face transplant in medical history, according to University of Maryland Medical Center surgeons.

Hospital officials report that Richard Lee Norris, of Hillsville, Va., is recovering well after an amazing, medically unprecedented 36-hour surgery that not only gave him a new face—from the hairline to the neck–but also teeth, a tongue, and upper and lower jaws. (See before/after photo above, right.)

A week after the full-face operation, Norris’ improvement has exceeded his doctors’ expectations. He can open and close his mouth and is already brushing his new teeth and shaving the whiskers growing on the transplanted face. He’s miraculously regained his sense of smell, which he’d lost after the accident.

Children to be banned from blowing up balloons, under EU safety rules

The EU toy safety directive, agreed and implemented by Government, states that balloons must not be blown up by unsupervised children under the age of eight, in case they accidentally swallow them and choke.

Despite having been popular favourites for generations of children, party games including whistles and magnetic fishing games are to be banned because their small parts or chemicals used in making them are decreed to be too risky.

Apparently harmless toys that children have enjoyed for decades are now regarded by EU regulators as posing an unacceptable safety risk.

Whistle blowers, that scroll out into a a long coloured paper tongue when sounded – a party favourite at family Christmas meals – are now classed as unsafe for all children under 14.
