House rejects proposal to strip TSA screeners of police-like uniforms 07 Jun 2012 The House on Thursday voted down a proposal that would have stripped Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport screeners of badges, shields and policeman-like uniforms. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) proposed the language as an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, which would have prohibited the department from spending any money to provide TSA screeners with official-looking uniforms. Another of her proposals would have prevent funds from being spent on TSA screening operations outside airports, but that amendment was also rejected in a 204-210 vote.
