Waterboarding yes, power drills no: defining torture now the issue at spruced-up Guantanamo Bay –Mr Nashiri’s counsel will argue that threatening a detainee with a power drill was not on the Justice Department’s approved list of [torture] techniques. 10 Nov 2011 Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged mastermind of a suicide attack on the USS Cole [another US inside job] in Aden on October 12, 2000, was expected to appear overnight in Guantanamo’s fortified military courtroom. If convicted, he could face the death penalty… Nashiri speaks no English, but understands the proceedings he now faces and responds to questions, according to his legal team, but they describe him as “a victim of trauma”. According to an official CIA report, their client was not only waterboarded, he also had a gun put to his head and was threatened with a power drill during interrogation.
