In what brings to mind the famous scenes of Winston censoring articles and publications that no longer fit the paradigm in Orwell’s 1984, the UK Independent recently had an article mysteriously disappear.
The non article is available here.
Thankfully, part of the article is available through Infowars.com, a news and news aggregation site based out of Austin, Texas.
A perfect picture of how copyright laws and claims help to further censorship can now be formed. If any independent news site such as Infowars, WeAreChangeTV, the Intelhub or FederalJack use more than a snippet of an article, they are subject to a copyright claim takedown notice or a full website annexation like Righthaven tried with USWGO.
It is sad that we did not have a number of alternative news sites all preserving the full original article for the world to read. What secrets could have been exposed that were so dangerous for the masses to see? Unfortunately only the first few paragraphs were preserved by Infowars along with the common “read the full article” link leading to the Independent. Even if the newspaper tries to cover it’s tracks in a few days by releasing a modified version of the article, we still won’t have the full story that was censored. This reveals an ingenious mechanism for censorship because those who are skeptical can continue to attribute these types of occurrences to coincidence.
As long as copyright claims continue to scare independent news site owners into losing all of their long and countless hours in pursuit of truth, we will also continue to lose such glimpses of the truth. The elites continue to win, the people lose.
